Previous Awards

The first Diageo Africa Business Reporting Awards were presented on 16 July 2004 at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.

A colourful and diverse audience of over 100 guests, including MPs, business leaders, ambassadors and journalists attended the event, and enjoyed the playing of Seckou Keita, a kora player from Mali.

Speaking at the ceremony, Thaninga Shope-Linney, General Manager, Communications and Marketing, NEPAD Secretariat, described the awards as "evidence of the entrepreneurial vision which the private sector can contribute to mobilising the capital, technology and human skills which Africa requires to meet the Millennium Development Goals."
