The first
Diageo Africa Business Reporting Awards were presented on 16
July 2004 at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.
A colourful
and diverse audience of over 100 guests, including MPs, business
leaders, ambassadors and journalists attended the event, and
enjoyed the playing of Seckou Keita, a kora player from Mali.

Speaking
at the ceremony, Thaninga Shope-Linney, General Manager, Communications
and Marketing, NEPAD Secretariat, described the awards as "evidence
of the entrepreneurial vision which the private sector can
contribute to mobilising the capital, technology and human
skills which Africa requires to meet the Millennium Development
Goals." |
