Newsdesk:
Business Africa is an interactive, capability-building tool for aspiring
journalists.
Using a virtual studio, students select and edit together video, audio and graphics from an archive to make their own three-minute TV news feature about business in Africa. Through interactive software, students can actually 'interview' leading commentators, choosing questions and then watching the pre-recorded response.
Excerpts of these interviews can then be used in the student's own broadcast |

feature. Students can also compose their own voice over to complete the presentation. The finished news item can then be submitted, via a website, for judging. Newsdesk: Business Africa will be distributed internationally in 2006. It is hoped that it will become a useful teaching tool for university journalism and development courses.
Newsdesk: Business Africa is being developed in conjunction
with africapractice. For more information, please visit www.newsdeskbusinessafrica.org or contact James Laing. |
