Diageo recognises
that the strength of the company is our employees. In Africa,
where 4,000 people account for 20% of our global workforce,
we work hard to ensure that our employees are provided with
the same opportunities for training and personal development
as their colleagues in other regions.
In a 2004 survey, 92 per
cent of employees stated that they were proud to work for Diageo
Africa.
In November 2004, Diageo Africa was awarded
the Africa investor 'Employer
of the Year' award.
In selecting Diageo Africa, the judges cited the company's
innovative strategy to

engage
the African diaspora (African expatriates living abroad).
"Reversing
the 'brain drain' that is plaguing many countries throughout
is key to building Africa's - and Diageo Africa's - long term
capability needs," said John patterson,
Human Resources Director for Diageo Africa. "Over the
past six months, we have recruited 15 professionals and executives
from the diaspora to fill key roles, with candidates from
the UK and USA."
Patterson added, "This award is a big win for Diageo
and helps fuel our momentum as we build a great employment
brand for Diageo in Africa. |
